Beautiful and light weight. My only surprise was the size. It’s 1.5 quarts right to the top. ‘My’ other smaller pans seem to have an extra half quart I’ve gotten use to having for boiling room. This line seems to be fantastic at conducting heat. I’ve got a large dutch oven from the same line. I scorched it pretty good the first time I used it. With steel wool and a lot of elbow grease it didn’t look too bad. Two or three uses and washings later it looked brand new! So I now use lower cooking temps and have NO problems.
Consider the sizing and cooking tempertures and you can’t go wrong.

Very nice set of frypans. I have used both and they both work perfectly. They have a thick heavy base that heats the contents of the pan very quickly. Much quicker than my Viking pans. The nonstick is very high quality and looks to last a very long time. The stainless steel in these pans is also very high quality. The flip up spatter guard is just the icing on the cake and works as well as the pans. The Rolls Royce of frypans.

There are tons of detailed reviews on this computer, so I don’t have to say much about it. I purchased this from Amazon on the first day it came out, upgraded to 8GB using 2×4GB Crucial DDR3 memory Crucial Technology CT51264BC1067 4 GB 204-pin SODIMM DDR3 PC3-8500 CL=7 Unbuffered NON-ECC DDR3-1066 1.5V 512Meg x 64 Memory. I just ordered the Intel 80GB SSD drive Intel 80 GB X25M Mainstream SATA II Solid State Drive (SSD) Retail Package SSDSA2MH080G2R5 and the MCE OptiBay.

Update 4/27/10
Just installed the SSD and the OptiBay. The OSX, the applications and the Win7 Parallel VM is on the SSD. Much faster now. Most of the programs now open with just half bounce to one bounce.

However, there is an issue with short battery. I am getting only roughly 4 hours on battery. It seems there are issues with the graphic switching, which is keeping the NVIDIA going instead of the onboard graphics. Bugs me a bit, but I guess that’s all part of being early adopter. I’m sure Apple will get this resolved soon. I have no regrets on this purchase. More here… [...]

Unibody Design

Traditionally, notebooks are made from multiple parts. With the MacBook Pro all of those parts with just one part–the breakthrough unibody enclosure. LED-Backlit Display

LCD displays typically use cold cathode fluorescent lamps, or CCFLs, to create light and project a picture onto a screen, and this creates two problems–the lamps require more space and they take more time to warm up to full brightness. The MacBook Pro uses LED backlight technology to create the same amount of brightness in less space. And unlike fluorescent lamps, an LED backlight reaches maximum brightness instantly. Finally, a new, smaller iSight camera is concealed behind the display for quick access to video chats and snapping pics for uploading to social networks.

Additionally, conventional CCFL displays use mercury to create a backlight and arsenic to prevent irregularities in the glass. The LED-backlit display on the MacBook Pro, on the other hand, is both mercury- and arsenic-free. Buttonless Multi-Touch Trackpad

With no button on the durable glass trackpad, there’s more room to track and click–left, right, center, and everywhere in between. Without a separate button, the spacious trackpad gives your hands plenty of room to move on the large, silky glass surface. It also incorporates Multi-Touch gestures–including swipe, pinch, rotate, and four-finger swipe–and even more natural inertial scrolling–an intuitive way to scroll through large photo libraries, lengthy documents and long web sites. Long-Lasting Battery

Environmental Considerations

Apple has worked hard to eliminate many of the toxins that are a common part of computer manufacturing. Apple engineers removed the majority of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) from circuit boards, internal cables, connectors, insulators, adhesives, and more in the MacBook Pro.

Because Apple makes both the hardware and the software for the MacBook, they’re designed to work together to produce a smarter product that uses less electricity. For instance, to reduce energy consumption, the hard drive spins down automatically when inactive. MacBook Air also decides which processor–CPU or GPU–is best suited to efficiently perform a task. The LED-backlit display in the MacBook Pro is another feature that plays an important part in conserving energy, consuming 30 percent less power than conventional LCD displays. I ordered this laptop from Amazon on the day of release, and had it in my hand the very next day. I’m extremely happy with this purchase. The screen is beautiful, the computer is fast, doesn’t run too terribly hot, battery life is descent at about 5 hours, but there is a problem that Apple is working on with the graphics switching, so once that’s resolved I hope to have considerably more battery life… we shall see.

This is my first mac laptop, and definately the best laptop I have ever owned… and I installed VM Ware so I can still run the few Windows apps I need.
